HV Backup knocks the Hyper-V Server Offline (kills network access to the host and VMs)...

Jul 16, 2012 at 3:23 PM

Shortly after a backup starts (30 seconds) no one is able to ping the server and from the server it cannot connect out anymore.  The Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine was left for two days and network access never came back.  It seems to essentially take out all network communication.

The event logs seem to contain no errors at all.

The Hyper-V Backup tool integrates with the standard VSS tools provided by the OS, so there's no reason why it should interfere with the network stack. It sounds like a potential network configuration issue that needs some troubleshooting. Can you please post your cluster network configuration?
